RMSc Footprint Compatibility

“RMSc footprint” describes a compact mounting pattern, but a reliable installation still depends on the complete interface: holes, recoil features, screws, plate, and surrounding clearance.

Verify more than the footprint name

Mounting geometry: Confirm that the optic base and slide or plate use the same hole and recoil-feature layout.

Screw specification: Match diameter, thread pitch, head style, and usable length. A screw can thread correctly and still be too long or too short.

Recoil lugs: The lug pattern should seat without forcing the optic or leaving it supported only by screws.

Plate requirement: Some slides need an adapter plate even when the optic is described with a familiar footprint.

Physical clearance: Check the rear sight, extractor components, cover-plate pocket, and any slide contours around the housing.

Do not force the installation

The optic should seat flat before the screws are tightened. If it rocks, binds, or leaves a visible gap, stop and verify the interface. Forcing the housing into a mismatched pocket can damage the optic, plate, or slide and can prevent the clamping load from being distributed correctly.

Follow the host manufacturer’s procedure

Use the torque value, thread treatment, and inspection schedule specified for the slide or plate and the optic. After installation, confirm that controls and battery access remain usable and that the mounting screws do not interfere with internal parts.

KLEAR K3

The KLEAR K3 enclosed pistol optic is specified with an RMSc footprint. Compatibility should still be verified against the exact slide, plate, and screw set being used. If the interface is uncertain, contact KLEAR before installation.
